2010 info session!

Are you interested in learning more about our Young Adult Mission trip to Guatemala?

We will be meeting at Christ United Methodist Church: 400 Fifth Ave SW in the Education Conference Center on July 8, 2009 at 7PM to begin the planning for our Jan 2010 YAM trip. The dates of the trip this year are Jan 1 departure and Jan 10 return. This should allow college age persons to get back in time for the start of classes, and it will only require people being gone from work for 4-5 days if they work Monday through Friday.

Questions? contact Pastor Amanda.

Videos of 2009 Project

We have two videos online that tell the story of our Young Adult Mission trip to Guatemala. We served 345 patients in our medical clinics and built a wall at a school for 560 children. There were many opportunities to see God at work in the lives of the people of Guatemala. We are blessed for having had the opportunity to serve and be served.

Info session Wednesday, July 9

Here's the cross posting from the young adult blog on the info. session on July 9.

We have a young adult mission trip planned for January 1-12, 2009. The trip will head down to Lemoa, Guatemala for medical care in villages and construction, probably at a school. There is financial assistance available for this trip, as well as lots of creative fund raising opportunities.

We have an information meeting planned for July 9 at 7:00 pm in the Education Conference Center. This meeting will include specific information about the cost and schedule. We'll have contracts for people to bring home and look over before committing to the trip. We'll answer lots of questions.

This is a once in a life time event- your life will be changed forever. This will be our 5th trip down to Guatemala. If you have questions, please contact Pastor Amanda in the church office and she'll put you in touch with the YAM leadership team.

Quote on Mission

I came across this amazing quote on mission today. It is in Velvet Elvis: Repainting the Christian Faith by Rob Bell. I highly, highly recommend this book. It is very readable. Bell writes,

Mission then is less about the transportation of God from one place to another and more about the identification of a God who is already there.
Pretty awesome, eh?
